It is that time of the year when we can allow the holidays to take over our healthy routines.  Here are some helpful tips and tricks to maintain those healthy habits and enjoy the holiday season.

Put the focus on the holiday traditions that include your family, friends, and fun. Take in the moments that you get to spend with those you love and enjoy the time together. Plan fun activities that take the focus off the food.

Stay hydrated during the holidays by keeping a water bottle nearby. Hydration provides many benefits to overall health however we often don’t drink enough. Try having a glass of water in the morning before your first cup of coffee or drink water on the way to your holiday party.

Make a plan to get in your physical activity. Making this a top priority can be the one thing that helps keep you going. If you can get in a short HIITS workout, do that instead of a longer workout. The important thing is to stay committed during the holidays and keep moving.

Don’t be afraid to say “no” and prioritize your self-care.  Overcommitting during the holidays to parties, “to-dos”, etc. can take up more of our time than we realize. Being able to say “no” to some of the request will allow for you to stay focused on your goals.

The holidays are a great time to partake in moderation.  Remember that this is a time to enjoy however keep your goals in mind and maintain those healthy habits.
