The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they’ll carry with them throughout their lives.
The benefits gained through early exposure to fitness are far greater than just physical health. Whether it’s gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in programs at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.
Youth Fitness Classes include:
This program is designed for 9-11 year olds to be introduced to a fitness program. The Y fitness counselor will teach proper use of exercise equipment in our Fitness Center and help get your child off on the right path to better health. This program will teach use of both cardiovascular exercise equipment as well as strength training exercises. See Member Services to schedule an appointment.
Kids will have fun while learning the basics of yoga including breathing, form, and technique
A variety of activities, games, sports drills, and aerobic moves will endurance will be developed using various techniques in a safe, controlled manner and a workout that is FUN!
Zumba® for Kids
This 30 min class is for children 5 and up. 5-12 yrs must be with a parent. 13 and up can do the class alone.
