    YMCAs in the region are pooling their resources in hopes of saving money.

    The YMCA of Greater Dayton announced a Shared Services Partnership with YMCA associations in Clinton, Fayette, and Shelby counties.

    Airman Returns Home; Surprises Son at YMCA

    KETTERING -- A special homecoming in Kettering for the Pritchard family as their own hero returns home from serving overseas.

    Air Force Major Dave Pritchard returned home from a year long deployment in Afghanistan.

    Major Pritchard, his wife Sarah and the local YMCA teamed up to surprise his 11-year-old son.

    Shane spends most of his week at the YMCA for swim practice. He couldn't wait to tell dad about his best stroke these days.

    KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) - It was a tearful celebration Thursday as a dad who has been serving overseas returns home and surprises his 12-year-old son.

    Shane Pritchard was shocked when he saw his dad Thursday afternoon at the South YMCA in Kettering where he normally has swim practice.

    DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - Representatives from Camp Kern encouraged 2 News Today viewers to sign up for literary summer camps with some special themes in the works.

    The camp has partnered with LucasFilms, Turner Broadcasting and Penguin Publishing. Because of that, the camp offers special themed camps such as Star Wars or Clone Wars camp.

    In addition, the camp offers team building, summer camp, family camp, and equestrian center and the Ozone zipline adventure.

    The West Carrollton City Council agreed to refinance the debt for the local YMCA on Tuesday.

    The original terms for the remaining debt of $2.58 million included a 3.17 percent interest rate ending in 2019. The city secured a new interest rate of 1.88 percent also ending in 2019.
