YMCA of Greater Dayton Recognized with Healthy Worksite Award
Ohio Department of Health Grants Silver Level Award
[Miami Valley, 01.31.14] – The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) will honor the YMCA of Greater Dayton with the 2013 Healthy Ohio-Healthy Worksite Silver award.
The YMCA will receive the award at the tenth-annual Health Action Council Kick-Off Conference, where the ODH will recognize Ohio area businesses for their healthy worksite practices. Awards are granted based on Gold, Silver or Bronze levels of achievement.
“By promoting worksite wellness and fitness in our association, we hope to promote a safe and enjoyable workplace,” said Amy Cunningham, Director of Human Resources at the YMCA. “We hold the well-being of our staff in the highest regard, and we are honored to be recognized by the state for our efforts. With the YMCA being an organization that promotes healthy living to the entire community, we have to make sure we start with our own staff and workplace habits.”
The YMCA provides many wellness benefits for its staff. A few examples include:
• Wellness related workshops/coaching
• On-site wellness fairs with biometric screenings
• Healthy eating resources and nutrition education
• Physical activity opportunities available onsite
• Bi-annual wellness incentives with earned rewards for participating staff
The awards ceremony will be held on February 20th in Dublin, Ohio. Ohio employers who demonstrate a commitment to employee health through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs are recognized at the event. Past winners of Healthy Worksite awards include the City of Centerville, the Dupps Company, Wilson Memorial Hospital, Premier Health Partners, and Youngstown State University.
