Trick-or-Treat is so much fun! But as parents know, it’s really busy! So how do you make sure your kids get a healthy meal before eating all the candy?

There are some really easy options. A kid-friendly charcuterie board is quick and sure to be a hit! Slice up some cheese and turkey, add some crackers and any kind of fruit. You could even put some goldfish or cereal on there, too! Give them some easy to eat, preferred foods that are (mostly) healthy.

My kids love “ants on a log.” Wash and cut up celery and add some peanut butter and raisins on top. Cream cheese is good, too! This is a protein-packed snack and includes veggies- definitely a win in my book. This is perfect for before, or after trick or treating. Kids not a fan of celery? Use Graham crackers or apples instead.

If it’s a cool Halloween night, grilled cheese and tomato soup is a great idea. Make your sandwiches exciting by using different cheese or you can also add lunch meat or apples. Tomato soup is great for dipping.

On busy nights, a crockpot can also be a great option. My kids love taco soup! In the morning, put frozen corn, black beans, diced tomatoes (with chilis if you want a little extra spice), chopped onions, a packet of taco seasoning and some water or broth in the crockpot. Throw some chicken breasts on top and cook it on low for 8 hours (or until the chicken is cooked to the correct temperature). When you’re just about ready to eat, pull the chicken out, shred it, put it back and mix everything up. Bon appetite!
