Youth Volunteer of the Year Award Presented To Springboro Supporter
Thomas Turner received award of appreciation from Coffman YMCA

Thomas Turner - coff youth[Springboro, OH 4/01/14] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Thomas Turner as the Coffman YMCA youth volunteer of the year.

Thomas began volunteering at the Coffman Y three years ago as a student worker from Waynesville High School. Thomas came to the Y to learn about what working a “real job” would be like. Throughout the course of the first school year, Thomas became a very well-known face around the Y. Thomas’ quirky humor along with his hard work ethic was quickly noticed by staff and members. His smile and Cincinnati Bengals “Who Dey” chants quickly became the front desk’s favorite part of the day.

During the summer of 2013, Thomas was not only at the Y by 7am for his swim team practice, he also volunteered his summer break hours to help at the front desk.

Thomas continues to volunteer five days a week and the staff at the Coffman Y genuinely look forward to seeing his smile each day.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 143rd Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 13th. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
