YMCA of Greater Dayton Announces New President/CEO

[Miami Valley, 09-26-14] The YMCA of Greater Dayton has announced a new President/CEO, effective October 1, 2014. Dale Brunner has accepted the position, offered by the YMCA after a unanimous Board of Directors vote on September 23rd.

Dale began his career with the YMCA of Greater Dayton in 1992, working at both the Fairborn and Downtown locations. Dale took a lead role in fundraising, planning and opening the Coffman YMCA in 2000 and worked as the Executive Director there for six years. He was offered the position of Vice President of Operations at the YMCA Association Services Office in 2006 and has served the YMCA association in this capacity for the last eight years.

Dale was born and raised in the Miami Valley. He and his wife, Shelly, are raising their family in the Dayton area. In addition to the YMCA, he also volunteers with the Miracle Field in Springboro, Cook Family Fun Day fundraiser, the Pink Ribbon Girls, and other community causes.

The current President/CEO, Tim Helm, has accepted a new position as President/CEO of the YMCA of Greater St. Louis. Mr. Helm has held the President/CEO position in Dayton since 2002.

Prior to accepting his position as President/CEO of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, Tim served on the staff of the YMCA of Greater Dayton in a variety of roles including branch executive, Vice President of Operations and Senior Vice President. Before joining the Dayton staff in 1996, Tim served a variety of roles for the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati from 1989-1996. During his time in Dayton, the YMCA of Greater Dayton has grown from a $4.7M annual budget with 4 branches and 2100 membership units to a $25M budget with 11 branches with approximately 20000 membership units. Tim has served on a number of national committees for the YMCA of the USA and Association of YMCA Professionals, including serving as the Chair of the YMCA Mid-Majors Group and as the Vice Chair for the national AYP Board of Directors.

“My family and I have been blessed by our time in the Miami Valley and I am extremely proud of the things that our YMCA has accomplished during my time here,” stated Tim.  “From new facilities, an expanded geographic presence and a strengthened urban program delivery system, the YMCA has continued to look for new and innovative way to meet the needs of our community.”

Tim will begin his new position as President/CEO with the YMCA of Greater St. Louis in November 2014.
