Copy of pres award - pauline moore[Dayton, OH 4/01/14] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Pauline Moore as the 2014 President’s Award winner.

Pauline Moore (or Miss Polly as she is known to everyone) began her commitment to the YMCA with a waitressing job at the Downtown Y’s coffee shop in 1954. Sixty years later, she is still spreading YMCA values to everyone she meets!

Miss Polly was one of the first African American employees to work at the Central YMCA branch in Downtown Dayton and, as such, broke through many of the racial barriers of that era. Over the last 60 years, Miss Polly has been a waitress, cashier, receptionist, assistant manager, food service director and most recently, an irreplaceable smile behind the member services desk at our Trotwood YMCA.

Sixty years of influence is unprecedented in not only the YMCA of Greater Dayton, but most work places today. Miss Polly’s enthusiasm for the YMCA mission and her desire to serve those around her make her a truly admirable and priceless advocate. She will continue to set the standard for future YMCA staff, members and volunteers for years to come.

The President’s award was presented during the YMCA's 143rd Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 13. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
