AREA SENIORS – GET ACTIVE AND STAY ACTIVE!

[Springboro, April 29, 2013] – Area Seniors: Are you ready to get active and stay active? If you answered yes to that question, then the Coffman Family YMCA is the place for you. The Coffman Y is the sole provider of Silver Sneakers® Fitness Program which is an innovative health, exercise and wellness program helping older adults live healthy and active lifestyles. This award-winning program is open to people who are eligible for Medicare or to group retirees. Through your qualified health insurance plan the Silver Sneakers Fitness Program is then available for you at no additional cost when you visit the YMCA. At the Coffman YMCA our main goal is for our Senior’s to get fit, have fun and make friends.

Silver Sneakers Participants enjoy the following benefits:

  • access to conditioning classes, exercise equipment, six lane lap pool, warm water therapy pool, indoor walking track and other available amenities
  • customized SilverSneakers classes designed exclusively for older adults who want to improve their strength, flexibility, balance and endurance
  • health education seminars and other events that promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle
  • a specially trained Program AdvisorSM at the fitness center to introduce you to SilverSneakers and help you get started
  • member-only access to online support that can help you lose weight, quit smoking or reduce your stress

Here are just some of the activities and classes that the Coffman Y has for Seniors to participate in: Silver Sneaker® MSROM (muscle strength and range of motion), Silver Splash, Silver Sneakers® Cardio Circuit, Volleyball, Pickelball, Cornhole, Monthly Birthday and Anniversary Celebrations, Social Trips and Luncheons, Zumba® Gold, Arthritis Water Aerobics, Deep and Shallow Water Aerobics, AOA (active older adults) specific clases, Zumba® Toning, a PFP (personalize fitness program) which is personalize based on individual goals/needs), and Fitness Counselors who specialize in working with Senior Population.
