Airman Returns Home; Surprises Son at YMCA

KETTERING -- A special homecoming in Kettering for the Pritchard family as their own hero returns home from serving overseas.

Air Force Major Dave Pritchard returned home from a year long deployment in Afghanistan.

Major Pritchard, his wife Sarah and the local YMCA teamed up to surprise his 11-year-old son.

Shane spends most of his week at the YMCA for swim practice. He couldn't wait to tell dad about his best stroke these days.

"The 50 backstroke," he said.

Pritchard says it was an honor to serve his country.

"Being gone teaches you how awesome the United States really is, and what great lengths some people will do to defend it," said Major Pritchard.

Pritchard was also able to see his now 6-month old daughter, Claire.
