Ronald Jones received award of appreciation from YMCA Trotwood NDC

ndc_-_jones.jpg[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Ronald Jones as the YMCA Trotwood NDC volunteer of the year.

Ronald has been a part of the YMCA family since 2009. Ron began as an active member of the YMCA. He could be seen exercising regularly in the weight room of the Neighborhood Development Center. He then became a fitness counselor in June of 2010, pairing his interest in health and fitness with his desire to help others.

After working for the YMCA as fitness counselor for one year, Ron was diagnosed with cancer. He promptly received treatment and took a leave of absence from his YMCA job. With the support of his family, Ron has recovered and is currently in remission! Ron was dearly missed at the YMCA during his absence. As soon as Ron was released to return to activity, he returned to the YMCA as a volunteer fitness counselor. Ron has been volunteering at the YMCA for one year and has helped inspire numerous members to be mindful of their health and well-being.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Ronald Jones. His dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
