Volunteer of the Year Award Presented To Local Y Supporters
Jim and Emily Littlejohn received award of appreciation from South YMCA

south_-_littlejohn.jpg[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Jim and Emily Littlejohn as the South YMCA volunteers of the year.

Jim, Emily and their children Jay, Ansley, and Leighton arrived at the South YMCA only a little over a year and a half ago but in that short time they have truly become the definition of volunteers.

In 2011 alone, Jim and Emily coached six teams and were personally responsible for more than 70 children experiencing what it means to be a part of the Y.  Between games and practices, they volunteered 4-5 hours a week over a period of 30 weeks - all in service to others and always with amazing energy.  They stated. “We feel like we are doing a service to the Y and to the families and when you serve you truly learn to love them……and we love the Y!”

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Jim and Emily Littlejohn. Their dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
