Huber Heights Aquatic Center: Huge Success!

All the planning and hard work that went into the Huber Heights Aquatic Center paid off.

Huber Heights City Council on Monday was presented with a check for more than $114,000 -- all profits from the 2012 swim season.

This year, more than 86,000 people visited the center and 85 seasonal jobs were created. City leaders say the success has a lot to do with the diverse attractions, and the fantastic summer heat.

"Very rarely do you open a water park on Memorial Day weekend with 90 degree temperatures," said Josh Sullenberger with the Huber Heights YMCA. "So we were definitely blessed with great and appropriate weather for a water park."

Next year, the park plans to have more family time events and a free community "Swimposium" to help educate the community on the importance of water safety.
