Dave Trowbridge received award of appreciation from YMCA Camp Kern

ck_-_trowbridge.jpg[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Dave “Tro” Trowbridge as the YMCA Camp Kern volunteer of the year.

Dave’s relationship with Kern began in the 80’s as a summer trip leader, high ropes course facilitator, and program director. Dave has done it all at Camp Kern! His connection to camp really expanded and bloomed after he resigned as a staff member and began to volunteer. Dave established an alumni paddling club, coordinated charitable beer tastings, and presided over camp weddings and vow renewals.

Volunteering both time and talent, Dave has allowed Kern to both maintain and improve its high adventure programming. From a vantage point of 50 feet below and 20 yards away, the staff members of camp look at Dave with apprehensive appreciation. With his enthusiasm, good humor and passionate dedication, Dave Trowbridge has made YMCA Camp Kern a better place. We are blessed to have him.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Dave Trowbridge. His dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
