Move it to ‘Lose it’ at the South Y!

The South YMCA is Offering a Weight Loss Challenge

Kettering, OH, 08/5/11 – A sad but very real reality is the obesity epidemic in America.  Currently, over 66% of adult Americans are considered overweight or obese, so it’s not surprising that millions of Americans are shifting their attention to getting healthy!  Weight loss programs of all kinds are popping up everywhere, but which one is right for you?

Research has shown the most effective way to lose weight and keep it off is through diet and exercise together.  Because setting reasonable goals and staying focused are the two most important factors in maintaining a weight loss program, the South YMCA is offering a program that will help individuals commit to achieving their fitness goals.

The hit TV show, “The Biggest Loser”, has inspired Americans to lose millions of pounds. Likewise, the South YMCA in Kettering (along with the YMCA’s of Greater Dayton) has created a similar challenge: MOVE 2 LOSE, to help our community add to those millions of pounds lost.

The Move 2 Lose program will allow you and two of your friends to workout two times per week for twelve weeks, in a small group, with a certified personal trainer.

During your 24 sessions, you will experience a variety of exercises catered to your specific needs and abilities, as well as a variety of take home exercises, and online community support. Additionally, all participants will receive weekly newsletters highlighting nutrition and exercise.

The cost of this program is $105 per person for YMCA members and $140 per person for non-YMCA members.  Registration begins July 5th for all participants and ends August 21st.  Molly Hallock, Wellness Coordinator at the South YMCA suggests signing up early for this program, as slots will fill quickly.
