FAIRBORN — The ball has dropped. We have rung in 2011 and now comes all those New Year’s resolutions. Whether you are resolving to lose weight, get active or just live a healthier life, the Fairborn YMCA can help with its Move 2 Lose program.

Open to both Fairborn YMCA members and nonmembers, Move 2 Lose is a program focused on getting participants more active and healthy. This 12-week program offers its participants two small workout sessions each week run by a certified personal trainer. In addition, there is a private weekly weigh-in, take-home exercises, community support and weekly informational newsletters.

At the beginning of the program, participants can either sign up as individuals or be placed into small groups where they will compete to lose the most weight each week. At the end of the 12 weeks, the group who has lost the most total percentage of weight will be crowned the champs and will be recognized during an awards banquet in May along with the individual who has lost the largest percentage of weight.

“This program is for all ages, sizes and physical levels,” said Dean Bieker, Program Director with the Fairborn YMCA. “No matter what level of activity you are, there is something we can offer to help you. It is the best gift you can give yourself.”

Cost for the 12-week Move 2 Lose program runs $105 for Fairborn YMCA members and $140 for nonmembers. The program will run from Feb. 7 to April 29. However, registration is going on now and will continue until Saturday, Jan. 29.

Class times available include: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday and Wednesday; 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday or 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
