Downtown YMCA Announces 2004 Volunteer of the Year

March 16, 2004 - The YMCA of Greater Dayton recently held its 133rd Annual Meeting at the Schuster Center in Dayton. The event raised close to $17,000 for the YMCA’s annual Strong Kids Campaign. The event consisted of a silent auction with over 300 items, dinner and a program. Volunteers and staff were both recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

During the program, the Downtown YMCA recognized Lynnette Ballato as their 2004 Volunteer of the Year. Since her son Connor first joined the infant child care program at the Downtown YMCA in January of 2000, Lynnette has become one of their strongest supporters and most active volunteers. She is currently a member of the Downtown YMCA Board of Advisors and serves as chair for the childcare parent advisory board. As a board member, Lynnette has been extremely active in finding new donors for our Strong Kids Campaign. In the Child Care department Lynnette was instrumental in finding resources to offer enhancement programs for the preschool and toddler classes including dance and language lessons. She has also organized numerous teacher appreciation events, helped out with fundraisers, field trips and other classroom events, and even bakes cookies for holiday parties or special classroom treats! Lynnette is a wonderful example of a caring and involved parent and volunteer and the Downtown YMCA is pleased to recognize her as their 2004 Volunteer of the Year.
