The Xenia REACH Center to Break Ground in March, Kicking Off Construction for a Multi-Generational Facility in Greene County

8 February 2018

With the REACH Center, Greene County will increase its capacity to address public health, expand educational opportunities, and strengthen community

Xenia  – One year, six partners, and $16 million dollars later, the REACH Center plans to break ground in Greene County on March 14.

REACH CENTER

The indoor groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Xenia Adult Recreation Center, where, in addition to the ground-breaking ceremony, the Y will be revealing the contents of a time capsule from the 1957 construction of the Xenia YMCA.

Dale Brunner, President, and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Dayton said this will be a historical day for the Miami Valley.

“This is an incredibly important day for Greene County. The Reach Center will be a one-stop-shop for people to improve their health, train for jobs in the healthcare field, and help a growing population of seniors live full and healthy lives.”

The REACH Center will be a 75,200 square-foot facility at the corner of Progress Drive and Upper Bellbrook Road in Xenia. The facility will host satellite education classes from Clark State Community College and Central State University, provide easy access to Kettering Medical Center’s new regional facility, and host an upgraded YMCA building with a regulation size pool and warm water therapy pool, as well as offer expanded social services and activities for senior adults.

Kettering Health Network’s Terry Burns said that the REACH Center is going to fundamentally change the community in Greene County, flooding the area with opportunities and benefitting everyone in the area.

“The impact of the project with our partners is that we’re going to provide a facility that we’ll all look back on and say, ‘that made a difference, for the community’.”
The REACH Center construction will start this March and plans to open to the public January 2019. For more information and updates on construction progress, follow The YMCA of Greater Dayton on Facebook for photos, videos and more.
