Best Summer Ever!

19 March 2018

By: Alissa Penner
As a mother of two young boys, my mind is always looking ahead to what is next to keep them developing, busy and engaged. With summer just around the corner and the school year that is just about halfway over, summer plans are on my mind. Now is the time to get plans scheduled and in place. Our YMCA of Greater Dayton has a ton of activities and camps offer this summer. My desire is for them to stay busy, build new relationships, learn meaningful skills and be in the best care during their time away from school. Summer is also a time for kids to take a break and just be kids! The YMCA’s philosophy is a great one: “Where children learn the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.” Our Camp options offer a variety of fun, outdoor activities and to experience a well-rounded, unforgettable best summer ever!

Kids Playing Tug of War

•    Choose one week or all summer for our Summer Day Camps. We have you covered with flexible hours of 9am-4pm and extended hours of before and aftercare. With a whole list of activities lined up, your kids will explore the outdoors, play games, do arts & crafts, go on field trips & explore, and splash in the pool to name a few. Weekly themes allow campers to learn more about the world's ecosystems through art, sporting, nature and character development activities.

•    In our own backyard of Warren County located on 485 acres of beautiful land, Camp Kern is Ohio’s premier residential camp for ages 5-16. From Ranch Camp to Teen Camp, to Main Camp options, campers choose their own activities including swimming, zip lining, nature, digital photo, archery, rock climbing, equestrian, waterfront, radio, arts and crafts, drama and more!

•    Offered for ten weeks throughout the summer at the YMCA are two hour Summer Enrichment Workshops for the little ones ages 3-6. Themes include a variety of adventures, summer safety/pool safety, ocean animals, nature, Dr. Seuss, dinosaurs and much more.

Whatever you choose, the YMCA has so many well-rounded options to keep the kiddos busy and involved all summer long. Most of all, the Y is a place for them to be known and belong.
