PREBLE COUNTY YMCA HONORED FOR OUTSTANDING FACILITY

May 5, 2004 - The Preble County YMCA, located in Eaton, Ohio, was recently honored by the YMCA of the USA for its outstanding facility at a Building and Property Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Preble County YMCA, a branch of the YMCA of Greater Dayton, was recognized as an “Honoree of the YMCA Recognition Program for Excellence in Facilities Resulting in Positive Membership Retention and Growth.”

The Preble County YMCA applied for this award in late 2003 and was among forty-six other YMCA’s who were recognized at this event. Close to 600 YMCA staff members from around the country attended the conference.

“The Preble County YMCA was selected for this award because of our staff, volunteer team, planning, facility design and construction,” said Josh Sullenberger, executive director of the Preble County YMCA. “Many people have worked hard to create this excellence and we are honored to be recognized for all of these components.”

The YMCA of the USA Building & Property Conference is held every other year. The culmination of this event is the YMCA Excellence in Facilities Awards, which recognizes both renovations of existing YMCA's as well as new construction. The YMCA of the USA Building and Facility Committee reviews the applications and determines who will be honored.

“It was wonderful to be recognized on the national stage for all the good work we are doing in the community,” said Tim Helm, president and CEO of the YMCA of Greater Dayton. “Our collaborations with the Preble County Youth Foundation and Kettering Medical Center have contributed greatly to our success.”
