20 April 2015

Dan Harkless received award of appreciation from the South YMCA

[Miami Valley, OH 4/20/15] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Dan Harkless as the South YMCA volunteer of the year.

Dan has been a member of the South Y since 2005. He is an active and key member of the South Y Masters Swim group. This group competes in several states each year and won four medals at the Summer Senior Games.

Dan is also a veteran of the United State Navy having proudly served his country from 1968-1972. Thank you Dan for your service to our country!

Over the last three years Dan has transformed the South YMCA gardens into one of the finest around – we receive countless compliments on it. It is amazing to see how beautiful our garden and landscaping areas have become thanks to the time and effort Dan puts in each and every season.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 144th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 12th. The event raised over $20,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
