YMCA of Greater Dayton Launches 2014 Annual Campaign to Support Community Needs

Miami Valley (01.22.14) – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is launching its annual campaign to ensure that everyone in the Miami Valley has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Every day, the YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic disease prevention, healthy food availability and providing licensed child care for our area residents.

“Throughout the Greater Dayton region, countless people know us. But there’s so much more to our Y than one might think, said Tim Helm, President/CEO, YMCA of Greater Dayton.  “The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”

This year, the YMCA of Greater Dayton hopes to raise $900,000. Funds raised will support programs for children, residents and families in the area.

Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for area kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; for families to reconnect and grow together; for aquatic safety to reach all area residents and teaching healthy lifestyles to all walks of life.
