Volunteer of the Year Award Presented To Kettering Supporter
Karen Hulett received award of appreciation from South YMCA

Karen Hulett - south[Kettering, OH 4/01/14] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Karen Hulett as the South YMCA volunteer of the year.

Karen has three secrets to success. First is finding something she loves – her family. Second is finding something they love – swimming. Third is finding a way to get involved with both loves – volunteering with the Key Swim Team!

Karen, her husband and their three children have been a part of the South Y family since 2006. In 2008 they began to participate with the Key Swim Team and have not slowed down since. Karen joined the Key Parent Advisory Board in 2011 and became its president the following year.

For the past 2 ½ years Karen has volunteered as the lead for publicity, fundraising and as co-swim meet coordinator. She is involved in swim meet set up, tear down and the recruitment and assignment of volunteers. Karen helped with all aspects of Key swim meets that hosted more than 2000 swimmers in 2013 alone!

The award was presented during the YMCA's 143rd Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 13th. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
