Steve Cobb Receives Award of Appreciation from YMCA

kohnle - steve cobb[Dayton, OH 4/01/14] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Steve Cobb as the 2014 E. L. Kohnle award winner.

The E.L. Kohnle award is the highest honor given to a volunteer of the YMCA of Greater Dayton. Steve upholds a position of leadership and service, not only to the YMCA, but to the Miami Valley community. As a board member since 2000, he has served on and led several committees and initiatives including Annual Campaign, Buildings & Properties and Nominating & Governance. Steve also served on the ad hoc committee that ultimately recommended the merger between the YMCA of Greater Dayton and the Greene County YMCA in 2008.  Steve served as the YMCA Board Chair from 2010-2012.

Steve and his family have a long history of supporting the YMCA including playing a key role in the development and construction of the Preble County YMCA in 2003 and again in the expansion of that YMCA in 2010.

Steve is currently Chairman of the Board for the University of Dayton and CEO of Henny Penny, a worldwide food service equipment manufacturer in Eaton.

We thank Steve for his dedication to the Y and for making our community a better place.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 143rd Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 13. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's Annual Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
