Downtown Dayton Volunteer of the Year Award Presented To Local Supporter

[Dayton, OH 3/29/13] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Jim Penikas as the Downtown YMCA volunteer of the year.

 

VOTY - jim penikasJim Penikas has been on the YMCA Board since 1994. He has served as Board Chair, Vice-Chair, Finance Committee Chair and our Strong Kids Campaign Chair. He has volunteered at the 5K runs, special events and at the annual tennis tournament.

 

Jim has given hundreds of hours of service to the YMCA, as well as fundraising and offering valuable input to improve our community and our YMCA. His business acumen and financial expertise have proven to be an ongoing asset to the Downtown Y. Jim is a dedicated Y member and appreciates all that the Downtown YMCA has to offer.

 

After his love of family and Notre Dame, the YMCA is next in line. He has never turned down a task requested of him, and he is always willing to be objective and to consider the mission of the YMCA in all that he does for the Y. Thank you for all you do, Jim!

 

The award was presented during the YMCA's 142nd Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton on March 14th. The event raised over $17,500 for the YMCA's Annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
