YMCAs in the region are pooling their resources in hopes of saving money.

The YMCA of Greater Dayton announced a Shared Services Partnership with YMCA associations in Clinton, Fayette, and Shelby counties.

Begun in early 2013, the partnership allows shared marketing support, IT services, employee benefits purchasing, facility maintenance consulting, payroll and accounting assistance.

In a release, the Greater Dayton YMCA noted the associations in the three counties are smaller, single-location operations, and that such operations often have smaller staffs and fewer resources available to them.

The Greater Dayton YMCA, which has 10 branches and one camp across Montgomery, Greene, Preble and Warren counties, will lead the new shared services operation.

“This new partnership is an exciting development that is providing a model for YMCA’s throughout the nation to study,” said Tim Helm, President and CEO for the YMCA of Greater Dayton, in a news release. “As YMCA’s seek to maximize limited resources, working in partnership with other YMCA’s makes great financial sense and allows us all to deliver better services to the communities we serve.”
