DAYTON -- 350 kids all with one goal, staying active.

"It's bringing the community together and putting health and fitness into that and making sure the kids are active and having fun and making friends," said YMCA Executive Director Gayle Horton.

U.D. and 14 different YMCA's put the kids in different sports camps with Flyer athletes.

"We had volleyball, men's and women's basketball, soccer, football, rowing, and so the kids get exposed to a variety of different sports," said Angie Russell from the University of Dayton

It's the seventh year for the camp, but it's Bellbrook native and women's basketball player Andrea Hoover's first.

"It's been a great opportunity for them and us just to interact with the kids of Dayton and it's just a great experience for them, they probably don't get to do this very often," said Hoover.

The experience takes everyone back to the root of sports, having fun.

"These kids, they just love coming out here and playing. They may not be very good at it, but they just love trying and stuff like that so it really puts everything in perspective for us," said Hoover.

Closing ceremonies were held Wednesday and Thursday for over 700 kids.
