Volunteer of the Year Award Presented To Local Y Supporter
Veronica Rathbun received award of appreciation from Fairborn YMCA

[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Veronica Rathbun as the Fairborn YMCA volunteer of the year.

Veronica has volunteered for several years at the Fairborn YMCA, both as a coach and a board member.  The past year saw Veronica coaching both soccer and t-ball teams while also serving the board on the Strong Kids Committee. Her teams always showed marked improvement throughout the season and it was always obvious that both kids and their parents were having a great time.

Veronica stepped up in 2011 to serve as the Chair of the Strong Kids Committee, leading the Fairborn Y to exceed the branch goal by over $4,000 and ahead of schedule. She has gone above and beyond to exemplify the YMCA spirit as the Fairborn YMCA Volunteer of the Year.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Veronica Rathbun. Her dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
