Jim Butcher, Dick Clingman and Dennis Maloney received award of appreciation from YMCA of Greater Dayton

[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Jim Butcher, Dick Clingman and Dennis Maloney as the Kleptz YMCA volunteers of the year.

kleptz_group_award.jpgThe Kleptz YMCA opened a full-time childcare center in collaboration with Concord United Methodist Church in Englewood in the summer of 2010.  At that time, a number of people got together to enhance the daily operations and program offerings. Concord church members have been vital to the services the YMCA provides to the families at the childcare, since the very first day.

Over the course of the past 18 months, and including today, 4,653 lunches have been picked-up at the Grace Childcare kitchen and delivered to the children at Concord.  This lunch delivery system would not be possible without three volunteers who give their time to our mission.  Jim Butcher, Dick Clingman and Dennis Maloney are Concord church members, and the Kleptz YMCA Volunteers of the Year.

These men have made 295 trips, totaling 4,513 miles or the equivalent of driving from here to Vancouver British Columbia and back!  Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of day has kept these gentlemen from their appointed rounds. It is with sincere appreciation that the staff and members of the YMCA are pleased to honor Jim, Dick and Dennis for their dedication.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Jim, Dick and Dennis. Their dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
