Javier Gonzalez received award of appreciation from Xenia YMCA

xenia_-_gonzalez.jpg[Dayton, OH 3/19/12] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Javier Gonzalez as the Xenia YMCA volunteer of the year.

Javier has been a part of the Xenia YMCA for over four years.  He is originally from California but has resided in Ohio for the last 27 years.  He began working with us through the Greene Works program, assisting the maintenance coordinator with various tasks. What stands out about Javier is that even when his case worker called and said he no longer needed to “work” his standard hours, he continued to volunteer his time to us.

While his main assignment is to work with the maintenance coordinator, he assists all of us whenever asked.  Every task is completed with pride and is always above and beyond what is required of him.  He is well liked and trusted by all our staff.  We could not think of anyone more deserving of this honor.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 141st Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $22,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign and consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Thank you again to Javier Gonzalez. His dedication to the Y makes our community a better place.
