Tonya Marable received award of appreciationtonya_m.jpg

[Dayton, OH 04/01/11] –Tonya Marable was awarded Volunteer of the Year. She began her YMCA relationship through the child care and day camp program for her son, Xavier. She enrolled Xavier at age five in the Trotwood location child care.  She has always expressed how comfortable and happy she was with the programs at the Y and knew that the staff would care for her child like he was their own.

Once involved in the child care programs Tonya developed personal relationships with the staff and started to work on her own personal health and well-being through the YMCA programs like Move 2 Lose and fitness classes. She has volunteered her time at several membership and fundraising events.  Tonya joined the NDC Advisory Board in 2010 and is currently the Strong Kids Chair. Tonya’s passion, enthusiasm and interest in the YMCA mission and program quality remain the same. We thank her for her dedication.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 140th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $19,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign.

The event consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.
