South Y Announces Volunteer of the Year
Bill Barnett received award of appreciationbill_b.jpg

[Dayton, OH 04/01/11] – The South YMCA was proud to award Bill Barnett as Volunteer of the Year. Bill and his wife, Rose, have been married and have lived in our community for 40 years.  After Bill joined the Y in 2007, it didn’t take long for his resume as a volunteer to grow.  Never missing an opportunity to help out, he has been Santa for Breakfast with Santa the last 3 years, spends time once a week calling Silver Sneakers, serves as the chair for the Silver Sneakers committee and in 2010 joined the South Y Board of Advisors.  Under his watch the South Silver Sneakers have raised over $2000 in support of the strong kids campaign!  There is no way to measure the time and effort Bill donates to the South Y.

The award was presented during the YMCA's 140th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $19,000 for the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign.

The event consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

A smile and an outstretched hand are his staples and his non-stop commitment to the South Y, its members and the community are just a few of the reason why Bill Barnett is the South YMCA Volunteer of the year! He is our hero!
