Senior Health Fair at the South Y

September 2, 2011- On Friday, September 16, 2011, from 9:00am-11:30am, the South YMCA will host a Health Fair to benefit our seniors.  The purpose of the fair is to introduce the SilverSneakers program at the South YMCA to the Community.

The SilverSneakers program is a fun, energizing program that helps older adults take greater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events.  At the South YMCA, we offer numerous exercise classes designed to facilitate a healthy lifestyle in our Seniors.  Additionally, we have a monthly group luncheon as well as social outings throughout the greater Dayton area.

To be eligible for SilverSneakers, the member will have received a card stating their eligibility from their health insurance provider.  If the member has not received an eligibility determination, he or she can bring their health insurance information to the South YMCA on the date of the event and an employee can help the member determine their eligibility.

In addition to plenty of information about SilverSneakers, the Health Fair will also offer several services including blood pressure and glucose screening, independent/assisted living information, as well as healthy living information.

If you are interested in more information or have any questions, please stop by the Membership Service Desk, or contact the South YMCA at (937) 434-1964.
