[Dayton, OH 3/23/11] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton held its 140th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $19,000 for the YMCA’s annual Strong Kids Campaign. The event consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

The YMCA of Greater Dayton is pleased to recognize Diane Hirakawa as E.L. Kohnle award winner this year. The E.L. Kohnle award is the highest honor given to a volunteer of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Diane’s enthusiasm has been a positive influence on our YMCA for the 15 years she has served on our Board of Directors.  She models a healthy lifestyle and is passionate about health and nutrition.  Her family members are active members of the South YMCA where they have participated in numerous programs and activities over the years.

During her time on the Y board, she has served a 3 year term as board chair.  She co-chaired the capital campaign to build the Kleptz YMCA, has served on the executive committee, has chaired the Strong Kids campaign and most recently has chaired the Marketing Committee since its inception 3 years ago.  She has been a tireless champion for strategic planning since joining the Board and has personally raised over $2,000,000 in capital and annual campaign gifts for the YMCA during the past 15 years.

We thank Diane for her dedication to the Y and for making our community a better place.
