[Dayton, OH 3/23/11] – The YMCA of Greater Dayton held its 140th Annual Meeting at the David H. Ponitz Center at Sinclair in Dayton recently. The event raised over $19,000 for the YMCA’s annual Strong Kids Campaign. The event consisted of a silent auction, dinner and a program where volunteers and staff were recognized for their contributions to the success of the YMCA of Greater Dayton.

Casey Bechtel was awarded the Beavercreek YMCA Volunteer of the Year.  Casey serves on the Beavercreek YMCA facilities committee, and over the years has spent countless hours on the roofs of the Beavercreek, Xenia and Fairborn YMCAs.  Casey, who is the President of Harold J. Becker Company, has come out time and time again to make repairs on roofs of all three facilities.  He has fabricated pieces of sheet metal in his shop to help make repairs in the facility, and shows up with 25 foot ladders to change light bulbs on the pool deck.  Casey has been known to climb on the roof to find and repair leaks during rain or snow storms and has never charged the YMCA for his time.  Casey believes in the YMCA mission and its impact in the Beavercreek community, so is always eager to help whenever he can.  He has never failed to show up when we’ve needed his help.  We can’t thank Casey enough for his commitment to the Y.

Casey Bechtel is a hero to the Beavercreek YMCA.
