TURTLECREEK TWP, Ohio - The YMCA's Camp Kern in Warren County's Turtlecreek Township says it now plans on expanding its zip line attraction to take visitors over 200 feet above the Little Miami River.

In a joint project between Camp Kern, the Ohio Historical Society and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the current Ozone Zip Lines running over the camp will be expanded this fall with two new 1,500 feet zip lines.

Plans call for an additional lines that will connect Camp Kern to a new tower at Fort Ancient through a series of nine sky bridges.

The new zip lines will take visitors high over the Little Miami River, giving them a sense of flying through the forest.

"By the time you reach the middle, you will get an incredible view of the Little Miami Valley area. You'll actually zip over the Little Miami River and be able to see the I-71 bridge over the gorge as you zip across," said Jeffrey Merhige, Executive Director of YMCA's Camp Kern.

“As you zip out on the new river lines, the canopy will drop away below your feet…within a few seconds you’ll be zipping in 360° of open air with an amazing view of the river and valley,” said Merhige.

The new lines will allow Ozone Zipline Adventures to offer three, hands-free, guided tours beginning April 1, 2011. The “Traditional Tour” will include seven zip lines and seven sky bridges. The new “River Tour” will include nine zip lines, nine sky brides and the nature trail. The new “Extended Tour” will include 11 zip lines, nine sky bridges and the nature trail. Preliminary construction will begin in December and conclude prior to opening on April 1, 2011.

The newly expanded Ozone Zip Lines at Ohio's largest camp is expected to be ready for tours starting in April.
